Comments by Professor Emeritus Kazuhiro Otsuka of Tsukuba University are given below (June 1, 2000).

57. First paper concerning the discovery of Type II twinning in a Cu-Al-Ni alloy. Moreover, the paper exhaustively proves that it is Type II twinning using all available methods, including determination of the twin crystal surface index, measurement of the amount of twin crystal shearing, and determination of the relationship between crystal orientations.
Acta Metallurgica is the most respected journal on materials science. This work greatly expanded the work described in No. 63, "Crystallography of b g1' Stress-Induced Martensitic Transformation in a Cu-Al-Ni Alloy".

95. Research including the manufacture of multiple difficult to obtain single crystal Martensite crystals and thorough examination of transformation modes using Cu-Al-Ni alloy single crystals. There is no other research, including that on other alloys, that examines transformation modes in Martensite in such detail.
